Hmm. I'm thinking of bringing this blog back into use. I realise that it probably receives around two hits a day at the moment (if that) but I have just been trawling through the archives as source material for a semi-regular part of my Indieoma column and it's quite a remarkable story. At the time I don't think I appreciated just how remarkable it was/is. Given that it was our first means of communication with the world and that now we are free from major label politics I think it might be appropriate to post again on a semi-regular basis. It's strange, there is plenty of stuff going on with the band at the moment and when I first started this blog I would have posted the full details as and when it happened. Now I just don't which seems odd. I would always talk on here about the band's progress from my perspective, but as time went on and more and more other people were involved management, agent, record companies, people affiliated to record companies etc, there seemed to be less stuff which could be announced and less stuff which was *allowed* to be talked about. My Myspace blog is pretty much all about me (although I haven't updated that for a while), my Indieoma blog/column is about "the UK music scene" in general - except that given that I write it and I only write about what interests me, it is more like an invitation into my mind in a musical context than a source of cutting edge information that is likely to excite, for example, an NME reader. Also, neither my Indieoma blog nor my myspace are (largely) about The Others. So as something like a cross between an Others Livejournal and what this blog used to be when I first started writing it, I will tentatively be updating it again on a semi-regular basis and see what happens... Having said that, I will also use this opportunity to post a link to the band's myspace which is here: http://www.myspace.com/theotherstheband and list the latest live dates that are confirmed:
